Trying the look

I edit photos before but not in this kind of way. I like how antique photos look like. Like the ones Sarah Maren did to hers. Those colours are so rich and beautiful. So I was just playing around with some raya pics I took. More to come and hopefully I am hardworking enough to post it up on facebook. haha!

Getting the look is not that difficult, but tweaking the photo to get the right colour takes a while. And I don't want to lose too much detail in the process. Keeping all that in mind, I guess I am lovin' photo editing and taking nice snapshots for keepsakes. =)

Singgih Kartono

This guy is freaking cool. Yani was reading about him in the morning. Not only is he a tree hugger big fan, he is someone who makes his mark in product design. Recently won an award in International Design Resource Association (IDRA) in Seattle, he creates job for the people who were making simple handicrafts. he certainly uplift the living standard of the people living there and creates a room for further expansion of commercial activities in the area.

He also encourage sustainability in design, promoting recycling in design and overall, great design! I love his works because I love wood myself. I have this natural attraction for anything wood for its natural texture and warm, cosy and so familiar comfort. I absolutely love earth colours!

I would love to get one of the radios. I was told I can plug in my ipod and it acts as a speaker. Coolness!

Turner Duckworth

Erica mentioned it on facebook and went to look at the design studio's stuff. Turner Duckworth has branded those really high notch brands and retailers for instance Coca Cola. Their works is very simple too. Their packaging and branding strategy approaches are unique and something loud enough to stand out in the very bombarded consumer market.

I enjoy their website. Very easy to navigate and the scroll thing at the side make it so convenient for them to update their website. I think this week I have been looking a lot on branding and packaging. I am working on ezad and ema's logo and some packaging assignment at work.

Actually I have been working on some patterns as well. I am just too lazy to put scan them in and put them up. But I will have to find time. =)

I need to re-construct my website SOOONNN

I decided to change my website homepage. I prefer this treatment cause i think this reflects my personality. I like to doodle and draw random things. I want bright and colourful things but they should stay simple and clean.

I want to make this happen.

Packaging Mania

I was assigned to think of a packaging for Wines2u. I did some research and was glad to find some real cool and very attractive Japanese packaging. I really think Japanese has a natural flair for very minimalist, modern, sleek and effective packaging as well as branding strategy. Their works always have this certain unique quality to them; be it the way the packaging looks or how the logo is designed. I find myself mostly amused with how simple some design concepts are and they always work the best.

I have an exciting logo design and packaging design project coming up. Something interesting to keep me real busy at work. I am exposing myself to more of these simple Japanese designs to be inspired. One more nook to look at is also Scandinavian designers. Their works are always a WOW too. I am glad I have lots to learn. I don't want to be stuck in my own world all the time.

Sarah Maren

I love her photographs!! I absolutely love her colours, composition and the way Sarah Maren captures those moments. Really lovely. Some pictures are nicely saturated and the focus is always the wedding couple. Which is great. Some photographs I encounter have very confusing focus points and the couple is always in the same scene as the background.

The colours are phenomenal. Faded and vintage but still very rich in my opinion. I would love to be able to edit my photographs like that. Perhaps I could try experiment some shots I took for hari raya visiting I did with my family yesterday.

By the way, busy at work and busy designing logo for ezad and ema. I hope they will like some of my ideas. =)

Oh Joy!

She is amazing! And her design blog is very useful and insightful. I get to know more freaking talented people and companies who did enormous projects! I was reading and looking at AUX ARMES too. I love their website.

So Joy has her own design studio and she  works with some clients such as Urban Outfitters. Her designs are more to fashion and lifestyle but I thought her corporate identities are great too. Simple yet eye-catching.

She has the talent to write too. so she designs, produce, print and write. What an all-rounder!

Time is ticking like no one's business

I could not blog yesterday cause I was super busy. Today is also busy. Didnt even have time to go a lunch break. I found a designer who is very talented as well. I willb log about her tomorrow as soon as I explore her website and get to know her.

I cannot believe it is end of Ramadhan already. End of September soon!! Goodness. And almost 3 months of being a part time designer in DPi. I was looking and admiring time and I found some unique and cool calendars. I like the ink bottle version. This type of calendar is something one can close to. Very personal and intimate as you watch it grow with you and wear out in time.

Manon Den Hartog

This guy is being featured in one of a design blog that showcases design on a daily selection. The works being shown there are amazing. The blog is ManyStuff.org

I am looking for more of his works. I love the layers and his typo layout.

Hannah Stouffer

I was struck by the busyness of her work. I don't know where to focus but in the end when you look deeper, the composition is quite interesting. Many layers of illustrations, colours and textures. Well Hannah Stouffer is an illustrator based in Los Angeles. She has done quite a few great commercial works for big brands.

Today is quite dry at work. I was looking for inspirations. I think I need to get the ball rolling for my website. I am doing up a fresh site map now. I have a couple of things to do. All this things make up a long list. Need to re-shoot some projects and I have a few projects need to be re-done. It's funny cause when I look at some of my works now, I was like hmm what was I thinking? haha.

Oh well. I need to make productive things in life. I want to feel useful.
