Noodle Schmoodle

I had noodles for the weekend. I am still yearning for it. I guess I didnt eat enough noodles for dinner and it's already gone by the time it was sahur(pre-dawn meal).

I randomly typed noodles.com and came across Noodles & Company. Cute and adorable website and the company gives you a very cosy, homely feel as you tour around their website. Both flash and non-flash are equally nice and easy to navigate.

I love their 400 calories and less chart. Very thoughtful and the colours made me wanna prepare something like that for dinner sometime. Uuummm...

Oh, I also found some cool noodle art stuff. Other than some pictures of 'create-celebrity-noodle' posted by someone, there's a noodle sculpture found in the Palais De Tokyo in Paris, France. That was really made of Asian noodles. The noodle bench is called The Spaghetti Bench from Carpenters Workshop Gallery.

wacky weekend

Weekend was a blast. As in really busy and a backbone aching one. I spent my Saturday running errands and yeap I found something to wear on Aidilfitri. Just something simple, nice and affordable.

I owe Aisha a treat for helping me out on Sunday. We cleaned the study room and spring clean means throwing away more than 70% of my junk. I managed to reduce 3 boxes of materials to just 1, and placed my projects into one super huge box and a medium size one. The rest are arranged neatly into a bookcase. I said my goodbye to my faithful wooden shelving before its entry to the store room or maybe my mum's friend.

The room feels empty now but I have to admit it's more neat. And I bet mum likes this 'new' room way better just by looking at that similar smile of hers.

Thomas Ozanne

O is the word today because I woke up saying OH MY GOD.

This guys is superbly amazing! I love the colours, the subjects, the composition and the adventure! Isn't it wonderful to be  a diver and a photographer? To embrace unique subjects so up close and where no one else can experience like you did.

Goodness gracious. What was outstanding to me was the very rich colours. So much colour and life under the water! Nevertheless Ozanne reveals the reveals the weird and strangest looking creatures. But Subhana'Allah! God's creations are infinite. Yani was like drooling looking at the photos and she can't wait to do a similar thing during her trip to Lombok this October. She could snorkel and bring back some nice shots of her own too.

Which reminds me that I would like to have a vacation too. I miss being just nowhere and doing anything

Partly Cloudy

It is cloudy today cause it has been raining. And we were watching another amazing animation from Pixar. I admire how much work and creative energy/talent/vibes they entire team has. What lovely starts before each of their animation. This Partly Cloudy was shown before UP. That one also, very nice, memorable and touching I must say.

Farm Is Farm

Farm is Susie Nielsen and Christine Gallagher. They are well rounded graphic designers who often collaborated on project with other esteemed designer as well. I like their style in the aspect of being simple and blunt at the same time. They are not like those generic designers but they have substance in terms of thinking concept. Just look at their direct mailer! Randomly nice. Their projects are mainly prints. I especially like the book delivered/recieved. I realise they like to stitch their pages too. Hmm I love to do that too. I just love introducing textures onto my nice papers...

"_farm is being attentive to what we see. It is transcribing and transforming what is here. We act as a lens or filter. We are the inbetween. Between you and what they hear on the other side of your voice. We find possibility and create opportunity. We facilitate, nuture, draw-out and re_direct. We see design as a means of expanding and contracting, of breathing sustainability into a way of life. We believe that design engages in the germination of an idea into a communication. Design is permiable, limitless, and empowering. Design is a methodology to amplify your vision and create understanding. farm is a connector or conduit."

Tali Gal-on

Tali Gal-on is an animator, designer, and illustrator based in Melbourne, Australia. She likes to draw things and move them around. Tali has written and directed short films which have screened at over 30 festivals worldwide, and has animated for TV and the web. She has also been illustrating and designing websites for over 7 years.

I like both her website and blog look and feel. I can easily find her identity. Also, I like her work concept. She has an Illustration Friday Day. So she comes up with any illustration related to a particular word for every Friday. Quite cool. I can do that with my doodles too.

SkyFlakes: Food makes me mad

These food icons are made for a current design job I'm working on. I proposed using icons as part of re-vamping his brand and collateral. I also proposed to change a little on the current logo but he expressed that it would be too long a process and decided to keep that to phase two. He's hurrying the boards for his cafe and his menu plus table talkers first.

I like how the icons some together as a patterns (Duh! I love patterns) for the sandwich wrapper. But this idea is still put on hold though he's keen onto having them. I mean the list goes on, we can have the patterns on coffee cups or the back of his namecard. I am learning much more about branding in this project.

Happy happy!

The Proposal

Gonna watch this tonight. Aldy said it wasn't so wow. Well see how it goes. Anyhows, it's another excuse to meet my dodo. Been quite a few days since we last met. Unfortunately Ramadhan starts on a weekend.

And today's already the fourth day! 25 days to go! Wee!

Pieatri Posti

Pietari Posti is Barcelona based illustrator who makes art for publishing, advertising, editorial and product. He has an online shop, I think most designer/artists are going into entrepreneurship to market their works. It's not like the olden days where you hang or display your work like the Salon De Paris in the 18th Century. Fair enough we designer are our own creators, promoters, salesperson and the lists goes on.

This guy, Posti has a very interesting style. Something that is very different. I love how the textures collide in the illustrations and the clever use of high and low tones in his works. The illustrations are 2D but the different tones makes it alive. Incredibly amazing as I looked through his works. I like his work space. He has everything he needs within reach. I think I need to re-space my space. Each time I need the scanner or my paints I need to dig them out.

I am thinking along the lines of online store too. I was just talking to Wani about marketing whimsical illustrations on products. I was thinking of producing my patterns as well. I worked hard at building that project i want to make it useful and productive as possible.

Insya'Allah. If God is Willing.

Frank Chimero

Frank Chimero has a really nice sense of humor. Not to mention, his illustrations are pretty cool too. I can see his personality from his work. Warm, fun and very spontaneous. I like his self project, the one with the different states and he did illustrations that best represent each state.

His website is also very clear and organised. I would love to sell my works too like him. Especially my pattern works which needs some fine-tuning to be done just yet.

Field Notes

Field Notes is a website that sells really nice notebook. Though very simple and just a pocket sized notebook. I feel like buying it on impulse. haha. I kinda have too many handy dandy notebooks with me but they're all full of things I just scrambled on during studio lessons.

Perhaps I can get one of this for my birthday! yay!
