Atelier Martino&JaƱa

Lovely lovely work! I'm kinda obsessed with publication design now. I feel so drawn into those contrasting images and clean, concise type layout. Like the example above, these are works from Atelier Martino & Jana. Click on their name to visit their site!

I'm doing some publication design myself. A health products company newsletter. I refuse to make it plain and boring just because it's so corporate. I hope the clients will be open to my design. Did sent the first draft. So far so good. But I want to work on the cover. Not working for me yet now... Somehow it just lacks something. Like there's no flair to it yet....I was hoping they would choose the one I really like. But they chose the generic safe option. Blearrgghh!

Jessica Hische

S
he handwrites and draw her own letters when it comes to typography. She admits she's not great at choosing fonts and would prefer making her own hand rendered fonts. Which is a unique talent in my opinion. I love type too and I love her self and current project Daily Drop Cap. It is very interesting creating a drop cap for web usage. Which is popular now and I have already used it!

Well I am starting on a tumblr blog too. It will be my stash of daily random doodles that makes me feel whatever I feel that day. I have a couple of random doodles but I haven't scanned them in yet. So will share the link later then...

Manon Den Hartog

This guy is being featured in one of a design blog that showcases design on a daily selection. The works being shown there are amazing. The blog is ManyStuff.org

I am looking for more of his works. I love the layers and his typo layout.

We Made This

I found this design blog created by a London based graphic design studio which specialises on print media. Their works are not that bad either. Some of them earned the d&D award or something. Their blog also share their insights on the things they see. Very nice new finds on the design world can be found there. We Made This is very interesting. the things they posted is running along the same tastes as mine.

Typoutrage!

I know I am posting this late but better late than never. I dont know if I have strong views about the change of Futura to Verdana for Ikea. Somehow changing the typeface really makes half of Ikea's identity being stripped away. Verdana may seem to be the best solution in the digital world for the use of its online catalog and such. But Futura holds a more nostalgic feel to Ikea's personality. Something exquisite, modern and sleek. Something Verdana seems to lack despite being a friendly on-screen typeface.

There's this article written by Simon Garfield. Well written and insightful.
